Getting Started

FUNDRAISING – GETTING STARTED AIDS Vaccine 200 Thermometer image

The AV200 is more than just 2oo miles of cycling — it’s a pedaling with a purpose. Action Cycling Atlanta has donated over 1.6M to the Emory Vaccine Center and other AIDS Service Organizations (ASO) including AIDS Athens, AID Atlanta, Jerusalem House, and Positive Impact. The average participant raises well above the minimum fundraising goal of $500. Follow the easy suggestions below, and you can too.

  • SET GOALS AND REACH THEM

Goals are a motivational tool and will keep you going. Determine a personal goal and let your supporters know what dollar amount you are aspiring to reach.

  • EDIT YOUR WEB PAGE ON THE AV200 WEBSITE

Once registered, you will have the ability to create your own AV200 webpage where people can donate online to you, see why you are riding, and monitor your progress toward your goal.

  • WHY DO YOU RIDE?

Personalize the experience for your potential donors (and for yourself) by putting into words why the AIDS Vaccine 200 is important to you.

  • SEND EMAILS AND LETTERS

Send an announcement of your plan to participate in the AIDS Vaccine 200 to friends, business associates, church members, family, and old acquaintances. Do not forget companies, organizations, and school newsletter lists. Remember to follow up with as many of these individuals as possible after they have received your communication to answer questions and bolster your request.

  • SHOW COMMITMENT

Make the first pledge yourself. When your friends and family members see your name and a contribution, they will see how serious you are.

  • PROVE YOUR DEDICATION

Join our AV200 club on STRAVA, a GPS cycling social media website.  Record your training rides and post them to social media websites such as Facebook so potential donors can see that you are devoted to preparing for the ride.
